Digital marketing professionals who are setting up pay-per-click (PPC) advertising campaigns may be interested to learn that Google dominates the market.

According to The Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization's sixth annual State of Search Engine Marketing Report, 97 per cent of companies use Google for their PPC campaigns.

The report, which is based on the views of 1,500 marketers, predicts growth of 14 per cent for the search engine marketing sector in North America during 2010.

Google came out as the clear market leader in the PPC field, with 71 per cent of respondents saying that they pay to advertise on the Google search network.

More than half said they use Google's content network for their PPC campaigns, with just 50 per cent using Yahoo! Search.

Microsoft's search engine was shown to have fallen in popularity among digital marketing professionals.

Last year, 54 per cent of respondents said they used Microsoft Live search, compared to 44 per cent this year who said they use Microsoft's new search engine Bing.

This follows search engine marketing expert Rachel Andersen telling Search Engine Journal that PPC should be used by digital marketing professionals alongside a search engine optimisation campaign for the best results.ADNFCR-2033-ID-19690785-ADNFCR
