Digital marketing professionals 'should use Facebook fan pages'

Digital marketing professionals should take advantage of social media sites like Facebook when planning their social media campaigns.
That is the opinion of Marcus Bryan, who said in an article for Gather that Facebook could not be ignored as a potential way to communicate with potential customers.
However, digital marketing professionals should not just use social media to advertise their products and services to users, as this will put them off.
He said: "The cause why most users will leave your public profile is that you are not offering value and trying to sell something instead."
Mr Bryan said digital marketing professionals should try to make their social media pages stand out rather than leaving them plain.
With 350 million users across the world, Facebook has huge potential as an audience base for digital marketing professionals.
The average Facebook user spends almost an hour a day on the site and ten million people become fans of public profiles every day.
Digital marketing professionals can also use social media to handle conversations with consumers.
Shama Kabani, author of The Zen of Social Media Marketing, told the Sydney Morning Herald that any complaints made through social media channels should be dealt with swiftly and professionally.
