Wii is UK's most searched for gadget

The Nintendo Wii has been the most searched for gadget in the run-up to Christmas, according to newly-published research.

comScore has released the results of a study which looked at the markets in France, Germany and the UK, with the games console coming out on top in all three countries.

The Wii was pitted against the other four leading gadgets this year - the Apple iPhone, Apple iPod, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Following comScore's findings last year, the Wii has now been the most searched for gadget for two Christmases in a row.

Herve Le Jouan, managing director of comScore Europe, says that the festive period usually sees a marked increase in gadgets being used as search terms.

It was found that in the final week of November there were two million searches for the Nintendo Wii, ahead of 1.5 million for the Apple iPod.
